Jamestowne Journey
On Thursday, April 5th our fourth and fifth grade students traveled to Jamestown to join in the 400th anniversary of the first permanent English colony. We spent time at an archeaological dig, the Jamestown fort, the Powhatan village, and boarded ships that were docked at the pier. Each team of children had a list of items that needed to be "found" and digitally recorded with a camera. What did you enjoy most about this experience?

I was unable to attend this trip, and am very curious about how the trip went and what some of the most exciting things were that they learned!

I had a great time seeing things from 400 hundred years ago and I wish that day would have never ended. My favorite thing that I saw was the three ships that were floating in the James River. Jamestown is definitely a place I will never forget.

I remember when I said that I wuold like to stay on the boat. Our guide told me that I would not want to stay on there with other people that had not taken a bath in six months. I liked the ships the most out of the whole trip.

I had a veeeery great time at Jamestown Ilsand there were lots of turtles and there was a great big turtle in the water.I shaw a big well and shaw a pochantas metal statue.I had a great time at Jamestown Bye'Bye. ag
I did atend Jamestowne on April 5 the year of 2007. THe most exicting part was getting inside the fort and seeing the diffrent
houses and shapes. Bnl
I am very upset that out of all the wonderful things we saw at Jamestown, my students write back about things we could have done at school. You guys really should be greatful you got the chance to enjoy this trip!

I did not go to Jamestowne, but I wanted you to knonw I would of liked it. My mom did not want me to go. My friend said she would buy me some thing but she didn't

I really enjoyed the visit to Jamestown. My favorite part of the trip was visiting the "real" Jamestowne. We watched archeologists at work and saw one of their latest discoveries. I really enjoyed the museum and seeing the actual piece from the virtual dig we did at school.

my favorite part about Jamestown was when I saw a musket being fired. Also when I got to go see the three ships. My favorite ship the Godspeed.
My farvorite part of the Jamestown trip was the James River and going on the Susan Constant and the Discovery. The Discovery was the smallest ship and was for going up the rivers and mapping the reigion.
I rely liked the museums I also rely liked the Church and the replaka of the Powatan Vilige
I realy loved the trip. My favorite thing was inside the Yehakin at the Jamestowne Village.
Oh, and the
I liked all of the fieldtrip. I also liked at the end when we made some rope for Mrs.Croft.

My favorite part of the trip was the Powhatan Village. I thought the Wolf hide was really neat. I loved that the kids had great behavior. KB
I have already been to Jamestowne but I still think it was fun. I'm glad we got to go to Jamestowne Island. I also liked the bus ride.

I loved the Jamestown trip too. But my favorite part was the Bus trip.I also liked making the arrow head.

I really liked the trip. My favorite part was when the seprate groups got to go to different places. We went and played with the corn cob darts. Thats all we got to do on our own.
My favroite part was the boats at Jamestown. We aborded the Godspeed. I loved the trip. I likedthe bus ride too.
I really thought the trip was exciting! My favorite part of the trip was when we looked into the well and saw all of the stuff that the people just threw away. I also thought that the ships were really cool. The people at Jamestown worked really hard on building everything. I love Jamestown!

I liked Jamestowne. I had a great time at Jamestowne. We learned what they ate, how they the English got across. Boy am I glad I'm not one of the settlers,but the bread smelled good.
My favorite part about the james town trip is that we got to get onto one of the ships that was in the water.It mde me kind of dizy at firt but i got over it but i also loved the church well i will write tonight

Thanks for being so well-behaved on our field trip! I hope you learned a lot about Jamestown. I thought it was a great experience seeing where the first settlers worked and lived.
I was unabele to go on the trip but I liked the pictures.And I am looking foward to goning this summer, with my family.I know that it will be cool. One of the leaders was John Smith.
I like the trip it was very fun.We saw ships and how to make bread. I really miss the bus because it had tvs on it.I got to go on the Godspeed.

My favorite part of Jamestown was carving the canoe. I leaned that it was harder carving a canoe then it looks. I also liked looking at the skeleton. One of the skeletons was a captain burried in a fancy wooden coffin.
I really liked going to the ships and going inside them. All the beds were very small, though I could sleep on them.Another thing was that it was a long walk, most people wanted to go to sleep on the way back.At the fort We saw a man whith a gun called a musket, he told us about his armer and what would happen if someone shot it would it be weak or strong?So after that we got to see the reconsruction of the church that was there.
I really liked the gift shop. I bought a sword. I liked looking at all of the stuff there. My favorite was the cannon. You can shoot with the cannon. It was very loud. The Indians were dressed up. I took good pictures.
I had so much fun i liked the ships and i liked the church but the way they did things wern't that fair...but i liked the real digsite and scraping the canoe. i also liked the bus it was fun and i talked to my friends. one of ,y fsvorite things was getting on the ships and i liked going into the church. i also liked going into the museam and seing the skeletons and seeing all the stuff. i realy liked the indian village. I liked seing the wolf hides and seing how the indians lived 400 years ago. I also learned about the bulwork it was were back in 400 years they go on it and had cannons to protect them from indians. they also didnt have that good of armor. And some times when they were reloading they sometimes shot their leg. i also liked seeing the statues. we saw a statue of John smith and Pocahontas. And when they built wells once they went dry they used them as trash cans and the mueasem had a well and they found armor and a shoe sole and stuff in it.
My favorite part was going to the real site. I like the real church.
I liked when the guy shot the gun it was the musket he told us that they wouldput there bullets in there mouth it was so cool. the smallest ship was the godspeedwe also got to go in it.it was very small.we went to the dinging sight it was very fun.

I like the skeleton. I also liked the boats. They were called the Discovery, the Godspeed, and the Susan Constant. We went on the Discovery. It was the smallest ship. They used it to travel up and down the river and map the region.the bebs was smoll they gave a demonstration on how to shoot a gun. They put the bullets in their mouth.
I wish I could tell you but I didn't go. But I know there was alot of battles. And alot of indans. And it was hard to live there. And I will name the ships one is the Susin Constent,Godspeed,and the Discovery. What do you think?
I enjoyed the trip. It was amazing. I loved the four ship even thow we only saw one and that was the DISCOVERY. The four ships are the DISCOVERY,GODSPEED,ELIZIBETH and the SUSANCONSENT. It was itsiting how saw james town ilind. It was buttaful. I loved the iland.
Jamestown was a great place. It was neat to see things from four hunded years ago. I realy liked the three ships, Susan Constant,God Speed and Disovery.You will like it too.
